APEX EVO GTX | Technicality and lightness for all seasons
For intense use on demanding trekking, mountaineering at medium altitude with incomparable protection and lightness, Kayland offers the new APEX EVO GTX, a boot designed to provide an excellent mix of versatility, support, technicality and appealing look. The high-quality construction materials and updated technologies, combined with intense anatomical research to develop a form that is both versatile, comfortable and performing, have seen a sublimation in this mountain boot concept. Therefore, Apex Evo GTX is perfect for use in all seasons and also for glaciers, thanks to the compatibility with semi-automatic crampons.
The upper presents a robust construction, thanks to the mix of microfiber, synthetic antiabrasion fabric and integrated gaiter with waterproof zipper. Besides following lines of special design, these different materials perform different functions in diverse areas of the foot, keeping a correct balance in the lateral support, in the protection of the ankle and in the pursuit of maximum stability and lightness. The upper part of the gaiter is made of elastic material to adhere punctually and precisely to the calf, avoiding annoying infiltrations of water, snow or external elements in the leg. The zip terminal is closed by a fabric covering to protect against accidental cuts and abrasions. A real strong point of the shoe is the K-Smart Closure system: in fact, the laces "disappear" inside the gaiter at the foot collar, to fit on the inner collar and cross for a precise, comfortable and stable
closure, which also holds during the activity. The gaiter is then coupled to the Gore-Tex® Performance Comfort Footwear lining that makes the shoe waterproof and allows the foot to breathe, effectively creating a perfect internal microclimate for foot comfort. The rubber band that wraps the boot at 360 degrees is built with Diamond Technology, an exclusive polyurethane material that resists abrasion in a way never seen before.
As in all of Kayland mountaineering collection, the lower platform of the shoes is a combination of technical features and cutting-edge materials that complement each other. The insole is made of polypropylene and glass fiber to contain stress and have the rigidity necessary for the use of crampons. The various layers of the footbed allow thermal insulation, comfort and optimal support. The wedge is constructed in Smart PU, with differentiated density polyurethane layers to absorb shocks with the ground, facilitate the hooking of the crampons and give stability on all surfaces, even rough. The Vibram® Mulaz Evo outsole is the benchmark among all the soles of this category: 5 mm high lugs, specific compound for use in the mountains and special design tread to ensure optimal traction on every path, in addition to full areas on tip and heel to allow precise use of crampons.
