APEX PLUS GTX | Maximum technicality and protection
During the winter, it is possible to practice a truly spectacular climbing specialty, challenging but which offers unique emotions to climbers: the icefall. In fact, with the cold, the streams of water that descend from the rocky walls of the mountains form a thick blanket of ice and become a wall along which you can trace the ascent routes, using ice axes and crampons and all the necessary equipment for the climb.
Of course, technical boots are also needed, which ensure maximum thermal stability and safe use of automatic crampons. Kayland has studied Apex Plus GTX also for this, realizing a performance boot, safe and technical for winter use and to climb icefalls, with very sleek shapes and with a very low weight for the technical package of the shoe.
The double Gore-Tex membrane on the upper and gaiter is the maximum for protection against bad weather and to allow the correct formation of an internal microclimate, which keeps the foot in full comfort even for prolonged use and in extreme weather conditions. The upper is constructed using strong synthetic materials, anti-abrasion and anti-wear, with a rubber band that wraps around the shoe for greater protection from rock spikes, ice and various obstacles. The integrated gaiter, as mentioned, is laminated with Gore-Tex Jazz membrane to keep the foot dry. The upper double loop allows an easy and immediate fit.
The sole block is light and technical, with a fiberglass and aluminum insole for correct torsional rigidity and technical insulation, a polyurethane wedge with different densities and TPU inserts on the toe and heel for the use of crampons. The Vibram Teton sole is the reference point for the tread of this category of boots, with spaced and deep lugs for traction and self-cleaning functionality.
