GRAVITY GTX: A review by Angel Luis Salamanca Fernandez

Gravity GTX is the technical approach shoe and via ferrata designed by Kayland for all outdoor enthusiasts who seek a correct support and excellent performance in a shoe with modern lines and low profile.

This is made possible by the study carried out on the arrangement of the various types of material and the resulting effective mix; in fact, Gravity is a shoe with highly technical characteristics, which in addition to its main use is also convenient in daily use, especially in the mountains, and along less challenging routes in terms of preparation, length and knowledge of the area.

Our ambassador Angel Luis Salamanca Fernandez was able to test the qualities during his latest expeditions, here is the report he wanted to share with us.

"Gravity GTX shoes have been an integral part of my equipment throughout the year. My team and I have faced, over the whole summer, peaks over 3000 meters to get well trained for the winter session in the Himalayas. In October we arrived in Nepal with the intention of opening a new route on the western wall of Pumori (7.167 meters), in alpine style without the help of sherpas, only ourselves in direct contact with the mountain during a difficult challenge, without logistic and food support. The summit of Pumori is right at the end of Everest, right in front of the mountain, in one of the most significant and scenic places in the Himalayas, where you can admire the most beautiful mountains of the entire planet. Unfortunately, after numerous ascents in the Changri Nup glacier and many high altitude camps, we found that the conditions of the mountain were not ideal, due to the fresh snowfall above six thousand and the numerous consequent avalanches; in addition, there was also the possibility (later dispelled after appropriate checks) to have pulmonary edema. As a result we have postponed our attempt to open the new route.

Throughout this period, I continued to use my Gravity GTX and test them to heavy usage and I must say that I was surprised by the performance in every condition of these shoes. Whether on high mountain treks or mixed routes with changes in slope and ground, they guarantee a safe, stable and precise support, ideal for taking riskless excursions. The outsole is really adherent, even in precarious situations and irregular terrains. The upper wraps the foot perfectly and thanks to the side support you always have the impression of maximum balance. Ideal then for our acclimatization trekking and for the base camp."
