SWISS4K - A steep skiing project | Skiing the 4-thousand Swiss Alps and more
Edmond Joyeusaz, Kayland's ambassador for many years, and his team are going to complete a spectacular and very ambitious project, to climb and then descend on skis some of the most spectacular peaks of the Swiss Alps and conclude the adventure with the first descent of the Horbein Couloir on the north face of Everest.
In recent days, another important step of the challenge has been completed: the complete descent of the north face of the Matterhorn, part of an incredible journey this year, adding it to the first absolute descents of two of the four most fascinating of the whole alpine arch, the Dom de Mischabel and the Täschorn.
The first stages of this exciting journey were in 2015 the Grand Combin, with the first absolute descent on the southwest wall, the Dent Blanche, descended for the first time in 2016 on the north wall, and the Weisshorn in 2017, with the absolute first descent of the south wall. In 2018, then, first the Dom de Mischabel and then Täschorn, to conclude the exciting tour on the Alps with the impressive skiing of the Matterhorn.
Now, for Edmond and his companions, the most difficult and complicated challenge: to descend Everest in the gully of about 3,000 meters in altitude that is called Horbein Couloir, with all the unknowns that this authentic monster reserves to those who challenge it. Very few climbers have managed to climb it, no one has ever managed to descend.
