VAJOLET HUT | The place to start for Catinaccio
The Rifugio Vajolet is located in the municipality of Pozza di Fassa, in the locality of Vigo, at an altitude of 2,243 meters above sea level, and is one of the largest and most renowned of the entire Dolomite area. In fact, it is an ideal starting point for hiking and climbing on the whole group of the Catinaccio, which has many climbing attractions, hiking trails and via ferrata.
The hut takes its name from the homonymous towers that stand out in the Val di Fassa, and are one of the most desirable destinations for hikers who frequent the Dolomites.
The first construction of the Vajolet hut, built by the mountain association of Leipzig, took place in 1897, then, given the lack of space to accommodate the flow of visitors and travelers, was expanded several times, the last in 1912, before pass definitively to the Società degli Alpinisti Tridentini, section of the CAI of Trento, in 1923.
Today, the hut offers 130 beds during the opening period, which runs from mid-June to the end of September.
