VERTEX REVIEW | The impressions of Jaime Moreno Montes

Jaime Moreno Montes shares with us his impressions on our Vertex approach shoe, having tested it hard during his trips on the mountains. Here are his words.

After several months of testing with the Vertex shoes, we have verified that it's a comfortable, precise and very robust model, that we recommend to everybody. Trekking in the Pyrenees, climbing in Galayos and Pedriza, the ever aggressive limestone of Picos de Europa and the roads of other mountain systems in Spain have served us as a ground test. The Vertex offers all the features that we must demand for an approach shoe: the EVA midsole offers the necessary cushioning to wear them during long days and the Vibram Gravity outsole has the stability and grip necessary to progress safely in any terrain. The Tech Approach last and the tubular construction provide precision in the tread and perfect fit to our feet, while the injected plastic Ekso Tech system stabilizes the stride and offers protection against friction and wear (really effective!). The fit offered by the laces is very precise and easily adaptable to the shape of our feet, something important to which Kayland always delivers us effective solutions. The absence of waterproof membrane didn't seem a great inconvenience, as the hydrophobic treatment of materials and the speed of drying allowed us to use the shoes for days of humidity and unstable weather. The feet only got wet under 4 hours of downpour with no possibility of shelter… We have worn them on uneven terrain with a lot of weight in the rucksack, they have supported storms and slippery terrain, hot summer days in the mountains and delicate downclimbings in smooth granite... In all these situations the Vertex have been excellent, so that we believe is a very versatile footwear that we can use at all times.
